Single Mattresses Make Sense In Your Guest Room

If you entertain out of town guests, you probably have a guest room.  Many people choose a double mattress or a queen size mattress for their guest bed.  If you have the space, two single mattresses are a better choice.  You may not always be entertaining people who wish to sleep in the same bed.  Single mattresses can give you more options.

Even if your guests are your in-laws, they may not choose to sleep in the same bed at home.  You want them to be comfortable in your home and two single mattresses provide each one with their own sleeping space.  If your overnights guests are friends who have partied a bit too hard, single mattresses are the best option since friends, even good friends, may not want to sleep in the same bed.

Your guest room doesn’t need to be especially large, since the single mattresses, and perhaps a night stand or two are the only furniture you really need in a guest room.  You shouldn’t need a chest of drawers or a dresser, although if you have the extra space, a small vanity is a nice touch.  You’re guests aren’t moving in, they’re just spending a night or a few nights at your home.  A suitcase stand is good if you have space, but they shouldn’t need to unpack everything and put it away.

If your guests are used to sleeping in the same bed, it won’t hurt them to sleep separately for a few nights.  Two single mattresses offer you, as the host, more options as to who can stay overnight and where they can sleep.  You don’t want to provide too much comfort for overnight guests as you really don’t want them to out stay their welcome.

Two single mattresses are great if you have two male or two female friends who intend to stay for a night or two.  Most men don’t want to share a bed with another man and most women prefer not to share a bed with another woman.  This way all your guests can be comfortable.

If you are furnishing a guest room for the first time, or you are ready to redecorate your guest room, consider using matching single mattresses instead of a larger bed.  It may mean removing other furniture from the room, but your guests really don’t need it, and you don’t want to use your guest room as a storage space.  Two single beds are the best option for your guest room and your guests.
